From Our President
Dear Friends of Family History:
Welcome to the official website of The Villages Genealogical Society. We are a non-profit organization serving The Villages in North Central Florida since 1993.
Our purpose is to promote and stimulate knowledge and interest in the study of genealogy; to provide for exchange of information among members; and to provide educational programs and workshops that will assist our members in their genealogical research
Each year we strive to provide programs of instruction through our monthly general meetings with guest speakers from the Florida area. We also provide specific topics of instruction through our Special Interest Group (SIG) program. We also conduct our Annual All-Day Seminar in February of each year with a nationally known speaker. Watch for details on our website and in the Recreation News section of The Villages Daily Sun.
We have assisted the Genealogy sections of our local libraries through the purchase of books and magazines. Additional information is available in the Library section of this website.
The Villages Genealogical Society meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday at the Savannah Recreational Center at 10:00 a.m. We also offer monthly Special Interest Group meetings, with the opportunity to network with other genealogists and work on in-depth research. Meeting times and locations are posted on the website on our Home page and the Events page. Members also receive our monthly newsletter, which contains Society news and events, genealogical tips and articles, Society news and events, and other member information.
If you are a resident of The Villages, Florida, we invite you to join our Society or attend one of our meetings as a guest.
Pat Rand, President
