Genealogists are constantly learning. Societies and libraries around the world offer webinars and courses galore. With each opportunity you take, you spend your most precious resource – your time. How can you decide what to watch and how to get the most of any educational opportunity? Discover ways to make what the presenter told you a part of your research toolbox.
 
Speaker's Bio:
Mary Kircher Roddy grew up in San Rafael, California. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from The University of California, Riverside in 1982 and a Master's in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas in 1984. She earned a certificate in Genealogy and Family History at the University of Washington in 2005. She was credentialed by the Board for Certification of Genealogists® in 2019. She is a member of the National Genealogical Society and the Association of Professional Genealogists. She is a trustee of the Board for Certification of Genealogists and is a former treasurer for the Association of Professional Genealogists. She is co-editor of The National Genealogical Society Quarterly. She has also published articles in many publicaitons including The National Genealogical Society Quarterly, NGS Magazine, Family Chronicle (now called Your Genealogy Today), Internet Genealogy, FGS Forum as well as society publications in the US, Australia and Canada. Mary frequently lectures in Washington State as well as at conferences across the US on methodology and records. She is one of the founders of the Applied Genealogy Institute (appliedgen.institute).
 
There are two ways to attend:  in-person at the Savannah Center or online via Zoom. If you want to attend in person, simply come to the Savannah Center at 10:00 a.m. on September 25th. If you want to attend online via Zoom, you will need to register in advance by clicking this LINK.

FamilySearch has millions of records. Putting a name in the search form only gets you a small percentage of their indexed records. Beyond that, they have unindexed collections and other digital materials that will never show up in a genearl search. Learn how to dive deeply into FamilySearch's record collections and come up with amazing finds.

She speaks on a variety of genealogical topics at the international, national, state, and local levels and loves helping people uncover and share their family stories. She is coordinator of the "Intermediate Foundations" course and the "Writing the Stories of Our Ancestors" course for the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy. Annette leads "Best Practices Study Groups" for a number of organizations, providing in-depth education on the genealogical research process in an interactive setting. She is president of VGS, president of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and editor of The Florida Genealogist.
